The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office has arrested three young suspects in connection with the deadly beating of 64-year-old Roger Borkum in downtown Jacksonville. The suspects, ages 13, 16 and 19, are now all charged with murder.
On Sunday, October 19, officers were called to Julia Street for an aggravated battery. When they arrived, they found Borkum suffering from severe injuries after being violently attacked. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he died four days later.
A witness who saw the assault provided officers with descriptions of the three attackers. Thanks to that information, police located the suspects within hours. After a detailed investigation by JSO Homicide detectives and the State Attorney’s Office, the teens were identified as 13-year-old Justin Curry, 16-year-old Robert Pope, and 19-year-old Marcavion Juhmaine Lacey.
