JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A Jacksonville mother and her children, ages 10 and 6, lost their home at the Desert Winds apartment complex off Atlantic Boulevard to a fire started from a plug in an electrical outlet. Their apartment was immediately condemned.
Sequenya “Queen” Akins talked about how the situation made her feel while fighting back tears.
“I’m angry, mad, because I feel less of a mom,” Akins said. “I don’t have my kids a roof over their heads, I don’t have a decent place for my kids today, that’s what I’m supposed to do, provide for them.”…
