80 dogs and puppies are now safe after authorities uncovered a suspected dogfighting operation spanning multiple properties in Clay and Union counties, marking one of the most disturbing animal cruelty cases in the region this year.
Early morning search and seizure warrants executed on December 10 brought an end to what investigators describe as a coordinated and brutal illegal operation. The dogs, many showing signs of severe abuse, were removed from three separate properties following a joint investigation involving local law enforcement and animal welfare experts.
Multi-Agency Operation Brings Dogs to Safety
The rescue was carried out at the request of the Clay County Sheriff’s Office and the Union County Sheriff’s Office, with assistance from Humane World for Animals.
