The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO) has provided details on an officer-involved shooting on January 11. The JSO posted a Critical Incident Briefing including video footage of the event that took place on West 22nd Street, which saw Samuel Cook, a 35-year-old convicted felon, injured and arrested under charges including Attempted Murder of a Law Enforcement Officer.
A call had alerted officers to the possibility of drug activity at a home, with a mention of armed individuals being present. Officer Mills and Officer Lyons, situated in a covert vehicle in proximity to the reported location, were confronted by Cook, who pointed a gun at them. The officers, while seated in their vehicle, exchanged gunfire with Cook, who fled and continued to discharge his firearm until he discarded it on West 23rd Street, where he was apprehended.
