Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office Tackles Youth Violence with Proactive Door-to-Door Interventions

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is taking proactive steps to prevent violence by delivering intervention notifications to youth identified as at risk for gang or group-related activity. Detectives and community partners go door-to-door to provide these notifications, offering support and resources.

A Facebook post on the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office Facebook page notes that the initiative was created a decade ago by then-Assistant Chief T.K. Waters, now Sheriff. While not every youth approached accepts the offer, more than a thousand intervention notifications have been issued.
