ST. AUGUSTINE — When the Dolphin Company filed for bankruptcy in March 2025, it looked like one of its facilities, the historic and iconic Marineland Dolphin Adventure, was soon headed for closure.

Seven-figure bids from high-profile local and even out-of-state developers emerged during the auction process in October, which seemed to indicate that Marineland’s fate was sealed.

But at the Oct. 27 hearing to approve the facility’s sale to a Texas developer, the judge refused, rejecting to continue the process as if the transaction were an ordinary, “cookie-cutter” real estate sale…
