Middleburg residents are being told not to panic if they see a heavy law-enforcement and fire-rescue presence at the Wilkinson school campuses this Saturday. The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says the extra staffing is a precaution while crews keep an eye on pre-planned events happening across Clay County.

According to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, people in the area should expect a “large CCSO and CCFRD presence” at the Wilkinson schools as teams monitor those events countywide. The agency did not specify which events are on the calendar and did not announce any school closures, instead asking residents to stay patient and follow directions from deputies on scene.

The Wilkinson campus covers both Wilkinson Elementary and Wilkinson Junior High on County Road 218, according to Clay County District Schools.
