Convicted felon on motorcycle apprehended with brass knuckles

A Jacksonville man was arrested after lying about his name and the brass knuckles in his possession.

A deputy spotted a red Honda motorcycle without a license plate disabled in the roadway on County Road 225 in Wildwood around 1:15 a.m. Tuesday, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. Nearby stood 32-year-old Daniel Scott Brogden, who stated the motorcycle had broken down.

When asked why there was no license plate, Brogden advised that he had bought the motorcycle a few days prior. He was then detained for obstructing the flow of traffic and asked for his driver’s license. But he refused to hand it over or say his name, ultimately giving a false name, the report said.

Brogden could not provide a Social Security number or address to back up his claim. Additionally, the deputy found a match for the false name, and the driver’s license photo for this person did not look like Brogden. As such, he was arrested, the report said…
