A protester vanished for 12 hours after his arrest at N.J. ICE facility, his attorney says

An activist involved in the ongoing protests outside Newark’s Delaney Hall immigration detention center was arrested and held for nearly 12 hours as family members struggled to find him, according to his lawyers.

Ian Austin, a Pennsylvania activist who has become a regular presence at demonstrations outside the immigration detention center, was arrested Friday during another confrontation between protesters and law enforcement officers.

Austin’s attorneys said family members repeatedly called facilities seeking information after he was taken into custody and were unable to determine his whereabouts for hours…
