Man arrested at airport in New Jersey after hit-and-run in Gaithersburg

GAITHERSBURG, Md. (DC News Now) — Police said a man wanted for a deadly hit-and-run was arrested as he was trying to board a flight to Honduras on Thursday.

The Montgomery County Department of Police (MCPD) said 26-year-old Josue David Carranza Castellon was arrested at Newark International Airport in New Jersey while trying to board a flight. He had outstanding charges stemming from a hit-and-run incident that happened the day before at around 5 a.m.

MCPD said Carranza Castellon was at the Muddy Branch Road and West Diamond Avenue intersection when his gray 2011 Honda CR-V left the roadway for unknown reasons, entered a grassy median and then hit 56-year-old Brian Roy Longaberger.

Longaberger died at the scene of the crash.
