Jersey City Medical Center union doctors negotiate new contract with 9.5% raise

Certain union doctors at the Jersey City Medical Center have negotiated a new contract with RWJBarnabas Health that includes a 9.5 percent raise with retroactive pay dating back to January.

“We didn’t go into medicine to fight our employer, but we’ve learned that sometimes, we have to fight for ourselves just as we fight for our patients everyday,” said Dr. Justin Reidy, a resident in internal medicine, said in a statement.

Represented by the Committee of Interns and Residents (CIR-SEIU), the new deal also has an increased meal stipend of $2,600, with a $600 retroactive payment, and $1,350 in reimbursements for medical board review resources…
