Mars Wrigley leaving Newark for Chicago, dropping over 300 jobs

Mars Wrigley, a division of Mars Incorporated, announced July 17 that it is leaving the Brick City for the Windy City and has dropped a state-mandated notice of plans to lay off over 300 employees.

In a WARN filing released that day, Mars Wrigley said it would axe 307 jobs at its Newark headquarters in mid-October. This comes as the company expands its operations in Chicago. Right now, there are no plans to change anything at its County Road 517 location in Hackettstown…
