Vito Mielnicki Jr. got the home-area result he needed in Newark, beating Austin “Ammo” Williams by unanimous decision on the same fight-week boxing calendar that sent Katie Taylor into her Croke Park farewell.
The middleweight bout took place Friday night at Prudential Center on the Andy Ruiz Jr. vs. Damian Knyba card. Mielnicki scored the fight’s cleanest early moment when Williams hit the canvas in Round 1, then banked enough work across the 10-round distance to sweep the cards.
