(NewsNation) — The 2022 case of a Bronx mother who killed her two young sons while experiencing psychosis was quietly resolved in a New York City court late last month.
For some, the story of Dimone Fleming drew obvious parallels with that of Lindsay Clancy, the Massachusetts mother with a history of mental illness who was charged with first-degree murder after strangling her three children in 2023. The judge overseeing Clancy’s case declared a mistrial on Friday after a jury of nine women and three men remained deadlocked despite hearing testimony from a series of psychiatric experts.
Prosecutors in Clancy’s case argued the 36-year-old former nurse methodically planned the deaths of her children, while Clancy’s defense attorney, Kevin Reddington, argued she lost touch with reality because of postpartum psychosis.
