Routes 1 & 9 To Close After Deadly Jersey City Pedestrian Crash

A stretch of Routes 1 and 9 will close this weekend as investigators return to the scene of a crash that killed a 58-year-old Jersey City man, authorities said.

Glenn Minasian was struck on Routes 1 and 9 near Duncan Avenue shortly after 5 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 10, Hudson County Prosecutor Wayne Mello said. Jersey City police responding to the crash found Minasian with serious injuries, according to Mello. He was taken to Jersey City Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. The vehicle that struck Minasian remained at the scene, authorities said.

As part of the ongoing investigation, Routes 1 and 9 northbound will be closed between Communipaw Avenue and Duncan Avenue beginning around 3 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 13, Mello said. The roadway is expected to remain closed until approximately 7 a.m. Motorists are being advised to use alternate routes…
