A six-car crash at the intersection of Davis and Garfield avenues Sept. 23 looked tragic, but it turns out only the driver of the vehicle, who police later determined was driving drunk, was injured — miraculously — Kearny Police Det. Lt. Michal Gontarczuk said.
At about a quarter to 9 p.m. that night, Kearny PD units responded to a motor-vehicle crash involving at least five vehicles (later determined to be six), near Davis and Garfield avenues. The on-scene investigation conducted by Officer Bismark Karikari and back-up officers determined the driver of a Nissan Murano, Jair A. Girioreyna, 26, of Newark, was displaying signs of impairment after the crash.
Girioreyna was reportedly combative with emergency medical personnel and was ultimately arrested by officers and charged with DWI. Later, Officers also obtained footage of the crash which appears to have been caused by the aforementioned Girioreyna…
