U.S. Customs and Border Protection has stopped more than 600 attempts to ship stolen vehicles overseas this year as law enforcement agencies work to disrupt car theft rings operating through the Port of Newark.
Security camera videos provided by homeowners have captured intruders entering homes while families were asleep upstairs and searching through drawers and bags for key fobs to high-end vehicles parked outside.
