Son who allegedly killed mom, dog stabbed himself in Brooklyn apartment: police

EAST NEW YORK, Brooklyn (PIX11) — A man who allegedly stabbed his mother to death in her Brooklyn home after her poodle bit him also injured himself, police said.

Andre Eugene, 36, allegedly s tabbed his mother , Donna Hyman, 55 times, including 26 times in the head, and the dog, Gigi, nine times in the victim’s apartment on Hornwell Lopp in East New York at 3 p.m. Friday, according to the NYPD.

Cops found Eugene covered in blood in the building lobby.

“My mother is dead. She committed suicide,” the son allegedly said when police showed up at the scene, according to the NYPD.

Authorities said the suspect suffers from mental illness that was triggered when the dog bit him in the thigh. He allegedly threw the poodle off the balcony and stabbed himself multiple times in the chest, police said.

Hyman died at the hospital and the suspect is still in the ICU, police said. The suspect was transitioning to a woman, according to police. He works as a paraprofessional at a Brooklyn school.
