Subway rider slashed in unprovoked attack at Times Square station

NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – A subway rider was injured in an unprovoked slashing at the Times Square–42nd Street station early Monday, police said.

The victim was on the northbound platform for the 1 line around 2:30 a.m. when someone slashed his right hand with a knife.

The attack was completely unprovoked, police said.

A suspect was taken into custody without incident, according to cops. A multi-tool pocketknife was recovered at the scene.

The victim was transported to NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue in stable condition.
