NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – A New Jersey man was arrested on Monday for allegedly stalking and cyber-harassment following an investigation by the prosecutor’s officer, officials said.
Sarju Patel, 39, an MRI tech from Hudson County was charged with stalking, cyber-harassment, and harassment.
On Jan. 29, detectives searched Patel’s residence with a search warrant during a stalking investigation, according to the indictment.
According to the investigation, Patel allegedly set up social media accounts impersonating the victims, using various names. He allegedly posted photos of them, pretended to visit places linked to the victims and their families online, and sent letters to one victim’s workplace, “placing the victims and their families in fear of physical and/or emotional harm.”
Patel was arrested on the same day in Paramus and charged with fourth-degree stalking, harassment and a petty disorderly persons offense, according to court documents.
