Man who ran unlicensed, big money check cashing business gets 5 years in prison

A Union County man who admitted running an illegal multi-million dollar check cashing service has been sentenced to five years in prison. Fernando Q. Martins, 44, of Union, was sentenced on Thursday on a guilty plea of one count of operating an unlicensed money transmitting business, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said in a news release.
