Times Square Gunman Arrested for Shooting Brazilian Tourist – NYPD Says

MANHATTAN – The swaggering teen Times Square shooter who opened fire on a security guard and police was reduced to tears when law enforcement officials caught up with him less than 24 hours after the shooting,cops said.

Jesus Alejandro Rivas-Figueroa, 15, was arrested in Yonkers at 3 pm today and officials photographed the teen crying as he was led off in cuffs. The migrant was arrested by members of the US Marshals Joint Regional Fugitive Task Force and the NYPD.

At a press conference on Friday evening, NYPD officials said Rivas-Figueroa had family ties to Yonkers.

The case is still under investigation.

In his short stay in NYC since arriving from Venezuela in September, cops said Rivas-Figueroa has been involved in several crimes. Investigators believe the migrant was involved in an armed robbery in the Bronx in January as well as a shooting in Midtown.

At around 7 pm last night, a security guard inside JD Sports noticed three men shoplifting. When the guard tried to confront the shoplifters, one of the crew pulled a gun out from shoulder strap and opened fire.
