Eight Inches of Snowfall in Hoboken Possible Tuesday, City to Enforce Emergency Snow Routes

HOBOKEN, NJ – Emergency snow routes will be enforced in Hoboken on Tuesday morning following the National Weather Service’s (NWS) prediction of up to eight inches of snow.

A winter storm watch will be in effect starting late tonight and lasting until Tuesday afternoon. The amount of snow, according to the NWS, is largely dependent on when rain turns to snow, which is currently predicted to be at around daybreak Tuesday. Winds are also expected to gust as high as 40 miles per hour.

Street cleaning will be suspended on Tuesday, city officials announced, reminding residents that cars parked on emergency snow routes when the road is covered in snow are subject to being towed and ticketed.

“The City of Hoboken is actively preparing for a substantial snowstorm tomorrow,” said Mayor Ravi Bhalla. “Due to the forecast, I strongly encourage residents to exercise caution and limit travel, if at all possible, especially during the Tuesday commuting times. Thank you in advance to all of our emergency personnel who will be working around the clock to keep everyone safe.”
