Yorman Reveron, a Venezuelan migrant accused of assaulting police officers in Times Square, claimed in court that he is the one fearing for his safety due to death threats received on social media. His lawyer argued for his release without bail, citing concerns for his safety.
However, Judge Ruth Pickholtz rejected this plea and ordered Reveron to be held on $100,000 bail, pointing out his previous criminal interactions and assaultive behavior.
Reveron is accused of attacking police officers during a mob incident in Times Square. Despite previous arrests for theft and assault, he had been released without bail. Two other suspects connected to the same incident, Kelvin Servita Arocha and Wilson Juarez, were also granted bail but faced federal charges and possible deportation.
Additional suspects involved in the assault on police officers, including Yohenry Brito and Darwin Andres Gomez-Izquiel, also faced bail hearings.
Brito, accused of instigating the incident, had multiple prior cases of petit larceny and was re-incarcerated on $15,000 bail. Gomez-Izquiel was ordered held on $50,000 bail for his alleged role in the violent robbery at Macy’s.
