New York facing ‘extremely serious’ terrorism threat as ISIS crosses border and 8 arrested

An “extremely serious” terrorism threat faces New York City following the arrest of eight individuals with suspected ties to ISIS who crossed the U.S.-Mexican border this week, it was reported .

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey security chief warned that New York City could be the target of an attack after the Tajik nationals were arrested in New York, Philadelphia and Los Angeles.

Greg Ehrie described the threat as a “weather front” as he said, “You’re seeing all the fronts coming into play.” He added that it’s “extremely serious” but failed to provide specifics on the threat, including how an attack might be carried out or where, specifically, it could happen in the city.

Eight men from Tajikistan believed to be associated with ISIS-Khorasan, also known as ISIS-K, were arrested in the three aforementioned cities after they crossed the U.S.-Mexico border, Newsweek reported.
