The 73rd-annual Con Edison Scholastic Sports Awards end-of-year celebration took place on Wednesday at the Davenport Mansion in New Rochelle.
The celebration honored the 33 Athlete of the Week award winners from the 2023-24 school year. Out of the 33 winners, there were 15 girls and 18 boys representing 12 different sports and 23 different schools in Westchester County.
The winners were selected for outstanding achievement in and out of the classroom, as well as in competition.
Con Edison put together a video honoring all 33 of the weekly award winners that was shown at the event.
Former Somers state champion football coach Tony DeMatteo was the keynote speaker.
At the event, four scholarship winners were announced. The scholarships are the Irwin ‘Red’ Klein Scholarship, the Bob Wolff Memorial Scholarship, the Tony Sabella Memorial Scholarship and the Dr. Charles ‘Doc’ Blanford Memorial Scholarship.
