WEST ORANGE, NJ — Resident Mary Drury was stricken with tragedy twice this year, but the second was much worse than the first. She and her sons escaped a fire at their home on October 17, 2023 . They lost their belongings but made it out alive.
On July 13, her sons were with Drury’s mother in her house on Liberty Street, and all three died in a fire .

Drury’s friend Jackie Paniagua organized a GoFundMe to help Drury pay for a new home, bills, furniture and anything else she needs to move into a new home.
Paniagua shared, “On July 13, 2024, my great friend Mary came home from work to the most horrific nightmare any mother can imagine. A fire had taken the lives of her two sons (ages 8 and 3) and her mother.” She added, “As funeral expenses have been met, I am setting this up for her to get her life back together while she is on leave from work.” It will never be okay for her. Please find it in your heart to help relieve the financial burden that she is having along with this three times worth of grief all at once.”
