Child found in Columbus after being abducted from New York City

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — SWAT teams were deployed Tuesday in Columbus as part of a hunt for a child abducted from New York City, and the man accused of taking them.

The Columbus Division of Police told NBC4 it received a notice from the New York City Police Department around noon, regarding a child kidnapped by an adult man. NYPD had reason to believe the pair were at the intersection of Interchange Road and North Wilson Road in Columbus.

CPD SWAT teams found the suspect and child at a fast food restaurant near the intersection. Columbus police said they arrested the suspect, and emergency crews took the child to a local hospital as a precaution.

CPD deferred to NYPD for any other information, including the child’s relationship to the suspect, as well as the suspect’s identity.
