LOWER MANHATTAN, N.Y. (PIX11) – Two Lower Manhattan mothers have come together to help fulfill the holiday wish lists of more than 800 families.
Lissa Hussian and Jessica Grunfeld, neighbors who founded the 15 Broad Street Angel Tree organization, said it started with a family who needed housewares. They thought it would be nice to help the Salvation Army with its Angel Tree initiative.

The preparations and planning start in August, according to Hussian. They’re helping 609 children and 197 seniors get their holiday wishes fulfilled this year.
Salvation Army Captain Yuco Hall said the two women have covered the wish lists of families from Battery Park to the Upper East Side. Hussian and Grunfeld have already loaded 15 vans to be delivered to families on Friday in Times Square and on 14th Street.
Some of this year’s wish lists include a 97-year-old asking for new pillows and bedding and an 8-year-old who wants toothbrushes.
