Hudson County Sheriff’s Office Det. Jennise Sarmiento rounds out Jersey City mayoral candidate Jim McGreevey’s council slate, announced as his third and final at-large hopeful.
“I seek to serve as a Councilwoman because I want Jersey City to be even better. I remember Jersey City when I was young, where children played safely outside, neighbors and local business owners cared for one another, and our streets were clean. I remember the joy of visiting arcade shops and walking to school with a sense of safety,” she said in a statement.
“While Jersey City has experienced significant investment, we have challenges, including affordability, the importance of improving our schools and providing recreational opportunities, and the necessity for safe and clean streets. My faith in God guides me, and my love for my son drives me. I want children to experience the same sense of belonging and community I enjoyed growing up in Jersey City.”
Sarmiento joins retired Jersey City Police Lt. Israel “Izzy” Nieves and Art House Executive Director Meredith Burns as McGreevey’s at-large running mates…
