NJ students surprised with $74K teaching job offers during high school graduation ceremony

These teens received more than just a diploma at graduation.

More than 30 New Jersey students were offered $74,000 teaching positions at their former school district during their high school commencement ceremonies.

Officials at Newark Public Schools, New Jersey’s largest school district, handed out the 1-year contracts to 34 of their graduates, a majority of whom completed a dual enrollment program that prepared them for careers as educators.

The conditional contracts require each graduate to earn a bachelor’s degree and become certified to teach in the state of New Jersey…
