NEWARK, N.J. (PIX11) — An East Orange man was sentenced to 20 years in prison for shooting two Newark Police officers, the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office announced.
Kendall Howard, 33, pleaded guilty in March to attempted murder and weapons charges for shooting the officers in November 2022 in a parking lot behind 25 Van Velsor Place.

Officials said the officers were sent to the parking lot to help locate a suspect connected to a shooting the month before. When the officers encountered Howard, he opened fire on the officers, hitting one in the neck and shoulder and the other in the leg.
