‘They know my name’: Adams on Mamdani’s lead in polls in NYC mayor race

NEW YORK (PIX11) – New York City Mayor Eric Adams appeared on PIX11 Morning News to discuss involuntary hospitalizations, Legionnaires’ disease and how he feels about the polls covering the New York City mayoral race.

“They know my name,” Adams said when asked how he felt about Queens Assemblyman Zohran Mamdani leading in the polls ahead of the election. “When I go to town halls, when I go to senior adults, and we start laying out what we’ve done… people don’t know we built the most affordable housing in individual years in the history of the city. They don’t know that we no longer have low-income New Yorkers not paying income tax. That I reduced the cost of child care by 90%… they don’t know the story of how safe our subway system is.”

Adams said he plans on using his campaign money to tell the story of his success, and that people won’t only know his name – but know what he’s done for the city in less than three years.

He also discussed the spread of Legionnaires’ disease in Harlem. Health officials said that 99 people have been infected with Legionnaires’ disease, four people have died and 17 are hospitalized…
