NYC issues warning after chilling discovery at evaporating Staten Island reservoir

The city Department of Environmental Protection has issued a warning after a mysterious bundle containing a pistol was found in a reservoir where evaporation has caused water levels to drop to shocking levels.

An upstate man who gave his name only as Chris recently found a pistol and a pair of brass knuckles wrapped together with a rock while walking in a now-dry basin of Silver Lake Park reservoir on Staten Island.

The weapons and the rock were bound with black electrical tape.

A former Staten Islander now living in New Hampshire identified the pistol as a starter gun, which fires blanks to signal the beginning of athletic events, such as races…
