Part of New Jersey Turnpike closing for ‘one of a kind’ race this weekend

A New Jersey Turnpike exit will be closed on Saturday morning as one of the state’s busiest highways prepares for a historic race.

The NJ Turnpike 5, the first-ever 5K race, starts at 8 a.m. on the Exit 15X helix in Secaucus. The race was organized by Special Olympics New Jersey, which is calling the race “one of a kind.”

“Runners will take on a thrilling out-and-back course that winds up the helix, heads toward the tollbooths, and loops back — offering stunning views and a truly unforgettable route,” read a description on the race’s website…
