Two people suffered 2nd-degree burns during a party in a church basement in Jersey City on Saturday, according to Fire Chief John Johnson.
Attendees at the Foundation of Salvation, located at 324 Communipaw Ave., were using sternos to heat up food, Johnson said in an email statement to NJ Advance Media. After a sterno was placed into the sink and the water was turned on, oil splashed onto an individual’s face and another person’s arm, resulting in burn injuries, according to Johnson.
