DoorDash waiving fees for some SNAP recipients amid government shutdown

NEW YORK (PIX11) — DoorDash will do its best to help SNAP recipients through an emergency food response program as the government shutdown continues.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture announced Monday that SNAP benefits will not be issued starting Nov. 1 due to the ongoing shutdown. Through its Project DASH program, DoorDash is going to help some of its customers.

The food delivery company is offering to waive delivery and service fees for an estimated 300,000 SNAP recipient grocery store orders in November. The grocery store offer is good at Sprouts, Dollar General, Schnucks, Ahold Delhaize brands, Hy-Vee, Giant Eagle, and Wegmans, according to DoorDash.
