A firefighter from Rockland County was among seven New York City firefighters injured in a Bronx explosion caused by a discarded cigarette, officials said.
The incident happened on Wednesday, Nov. 5, in front of 1000 Fox St. in the Bronx, when a lit cigarette ignited nearby garbage, spreading flames to a parked vehicle and triggering a major explosion, according to FDNY Chief of Department John Esposito.
