MOUNT OLIVE TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — A Newark man has been charged in connection with a burglary that led to the theft of more than $12,000 from a Flanders gas station last month, according to township police.
Police said that on Oct. 12, 2025, officers responded to the Flanders Shell gas station on Route 206 in the Flanders section of Mount Olive Township for a report of a past-tense burglary. The station owner told police the office had been broken into and approximately $12,400 had been stolen from a safe.
Following an investigation, detectives identified Albert W. Smith, 57, of Newark, as the alleged suspect. Police said Smith fled New Jersey after the burglary and was located in Hartford, Connecticut…
