Drivers warned to avoid potentially flooded streets in NJ: List

NEWARK, N.J. (PIX11) — Drivers in Newark, New Jersey, were warned to avoid more than two dozen streets that may flood on Friday.

The city’s Department of Public Safety announced it was coordinating responses to burglar alarms, flooding conditions, and other weather-related incidents as thunderstorms rolled over the tri-state area.

Parts of New Jersey were placed under a coastal flood advisory and severe thunderstorm warning by the National Weather Service, with flooding of up to 1 ½ feet expected for some areas. Forecasters said rain was expected to last until at least 1 p.m.
