Projected Snowfall Totals Increase As Storm Nears Tristate: Brand-New Map

A quick-hitting system will brush the tristate with light snow before a change to rain at the coast, bringing a slick morning commute for some areas.

The National Weather Service said the storm’s window runs late Monday, Dec. 22, into Tuesday, Dec. 23.

    Snow is expected to begin overnight and change to rain along the coast Tuesday morning, with a possible changeover by early afternoon for many inland spots, according to the National Weather Service New York office.

    Projected snowfall from the National Weather Service graphic shows:

    • NYC metro, Long Island, and coastal Connecticut: up to 1 inch.
    • Interior locations north and west of the city and inland Connecticut: 1 to 2 inches.
