Starting January 1, photo ID required for NJ Transit reduced fares but not for voting

NEWARK, NJ – Beginning January 1, riders using NJ Transit’s Reduced Fare Program will need a photo identification card to qualify for discounted tickets, marking the end of the agency’s long-standing acceptance of non-photo cards.

The change affects seniors, people with disabilities, and active military members who use the reduced fare option on buses, trains, and light rail.
