New Jersey weather: Fast moving rare winter storm threatens to blanket NJ in snow

New Jersey is preparing for its heaviest snowfall in years as a rapidly advancing winter storm approaches the area. Although most of the Northeast didn’t experience a white Christmas, meteorologists warn that a strong post-holiday weather system could complicate travel plans and disrupt everyday activities. For the first time in nearly four years, a Winter Storm Warning has been declared.

New York City Mayor Eric Adams said in a press release: “As New Yorkers continue to celebrate the holidays and prepare to celebrate the new year, they should also prepare for hazardous travel conditions Friday into Saturday,” and “New York City agencies have been coordinating and are prepared for the winter weather system, and we continue to monitor conditions closely.

“New Yorkers should all prepare – avoid driving if possible and give yourself extra travel time with public transit if you do need to travel, stay alert to changing conditions, and sign up for Notify NYC for real-time information updates.
