Union City hires a former Assistant U.S. Attorney as inspector general

Union City has hired a career federal prosecutor to serve as its inspector general, a new post created to provide oversight of public contracts and government budgets to the city government and the Board of Education.

David Malagold joined the Justice Department as a trial attorney in 2002 and has been an Assistant U.S. Attorney in New Jersey since 2006. He spent six years as chief of the Organized Crime/Gangs Unit, and seven years in the Cybercrime Unit.
