Paterson plans to close 4 citywide schools, angering some parents

PATERSON — Four of five citywide “elementary choice schools” will be dissolved after the current academic year, with those students being reassigned to the schools in their neighborhoods in the fall.

Those changes are part of the district’s next phase of restructuring as it shifts to a middle school model.

Four other Paterson schools will be reconfigured by September, with School 21 having only students in grades 6 through 8, while Schools 10, 18 and 26 will handle children up to grade 5…
