Newly released video footage shows the moments leading up to a deadly police encounter in Jersey City that left a 27-year-old man dead.
The Attorney General’s Office of Public Integrity and Accountability released the recordings on Friday, Feb. 6, related to the death of Teshawn Rogers, 27, of Jersey City, following an encounter with law enforcement last October.
Shortly after 1 a.m., on Tuesday, Oct. 21, members of the Jersey City Police Department’s Street Crimes Unit, which consists of plainclothes officers operating unmarked vehicles, encountered Rogers in the area of Bergen and Virginia avenues as he walked northbound on Bergen Avenue, Acting AG Jennifer Davenport, said.
