JERSEY CITY, N.J. (PIX11 News) — One of Jersey City’s crown jewels, that is, historically speaking, is in a precarious spot.
The City says it’s at risk of collapsing after three supportive straps around the tower portion of the historic Hudson and Manhattan Railroad Powerhouse were found to be broken. As a result, the City has shut down Greene Street at Bay Street.

“If we do want it to last a little bit longer and have less to repair later, I think they really need to make these quick little repairs and stabilize it a little bit better,” said Kathryn Moore, head of the Powerhouse Arts District Neighborhood Association.
