On Sunday at 1:44 a.m. the National Weather Service released a cold weather advisory valid from 1 p.m. until Monday 10 a.m. for Hudson, Essex and Union counties.
The weather service states, “Very cold wind chills as low as 8 degrees below expected.”
“The cold wind chills could result in hypothermia if precautions are not taken,” says the weather service. “Dress in layers including a hat, face mask, and gloves if you must go outside. Keep pets indoors as much as possible. Make frequent checks on older family, friends, and neighbors. Ensure portable heaters are used correctly. Do not use generators or grills inside.”
