Mamdani issues emergency NYC snowstorm update ahead of Nor’easter this weekend

If you’ve been enjoying the warmer weather in New York City, it’s a little too soon to get comfortable, according to Mayor Mamdani who issued a snowstorm update on X.

Mamdani’s update warns New Yorkers about what to expect: a light dusting on Sunday morning, a break, then more snow in the evening, with overnight snow expected, resulting in slick roads and icy sidewalks on Monday morning. It’s not the best way to start the work week, but it is good to know in advance so people can prepare.

In his post, Mamdani wrote: “Snow is forecast for Sunday into Monday—and we are ready.” In terms of being ready, he clarified what he meant by that: “Crews are preparing, and we’ll be monitoring conditions closely. If you can, give yourself extra time to travel, check in on neighbors—especially seniors—and take it slow out there.”…
