17 people arrested in Jersey City for illegal gun possession since January

More than two dozen illegal guns have been taken off the streets in Jersey City this year, where police say their recent crackdown has also led to 17 arrests. According to city officials, one of the weapons recovered was a “ghost gun” that police have connected to three separate cases involving the same suspect. Ghost guns are assembled without serial numbers to make it harder for investigators to trace. “Our officers are removing these firearms from our neighborhoods without using their service weapons, placing themselves in harm’s way to prevent further violence.
